Coast & Harbor

Driftpine Harbor

Driftpine Harbor bends around a wide scoop of gray water, where the shore is lined not with big piers but with sloping timber ramps, floating sheds, and a long row of pine pilings blackened by salt. The air smells of brine, sun-warmed tar, and resin from the driftwood stacks that dry beside the net racks. Small boats rest nose-in at the ramps, rocking gently against one another, while ropes whisper and taps of wood sound whenever the harbor sways.
