Cloverbell Fold
Cloverbell Fold lies in a wide bowl of green fields, where the grass grows in soft waves around a low brick farmhouse and a long shed with a rust-red roof. A shallow ditch filled with reeds bends through the middle, and two narrow plank paths cross it, always a little damp at the edges. The air smells of clover, warm dust, and fresh-cut apples from the little orchard tucked behind the barn. Days here follow the creak of a weather vane, the clink of milk pails, and the slow shuffle of cows in the shade. Chickens scratch under currant bushes, and a family of geese leaves bright footprints in the mud after rain. The place changes with weather: the path near the ditch turns slick, hay gets carried by the wind into corners, and tall grass hides small dips and ant trails. It feels busy but gentle, with open spaces, tucked-away corners, and many quiet places for noticing, helping, or wandering.

Bran
Bran is a patient farmhand with broad shoulders and the steady hands of someone who has spent years around animals and tools. He stands as tall as a doorway and likes quiet routines, though he has a dry sense of humor when things go sideways.

Jori
Jori is a lanky old scarecrow maker who lives at Cloverbell Fold and stands as tall as a barn door. He is gentle and a little odd, with a fondness for tidy knots, bright scraps, and giving forgotten things a second chance.

Mina
Mina is a curious little girl who lives at Cloverbell Fold and fits easily on a hay bale or in a grown-up’s lap. She notices tiny changes in familiar places and often follows her questions before she follows instructions.

Pip
Pip is Mina’s younger brother, a small boy who can sit cross-legged inside an apple basket with room to spare. He adores joining in and hates being left out, even when the work around the fold is too big for him.

Tamsin
Tamsin is a lively goose keeper who stands as tall as a doorstep and has a laugh that bubbles up before she can stop it. She loves the small dramas of the fold and has a knack for making ordinary moments feel grand, though she can get carried away by her own excitement.

Willa
Willa is a small barn cat who can curl up in a child’s palm and still look like she owns the whole farmyard. She prowls Cloverbell Fold with a sleek tail and quiet confidence, acting as if every sun-warmed beam, straw pile, and windowsill is part of her careful domain.

Nap on the Seed Table
The barn cats have chosen the warm seed-sorting table for a nap, but the same table is where the tiny sunflower seeds must be measured out before sunset feeding. The seeds can’t wait, and the cats are too cozy to simply move, so the farm needs a gentle way to make room without upsetting anybody.

The Crooked Seed Rows
A whole row of newly planted seeds has been nudged out of their furrows by overnight burrowing, and the disturbed ground is stretching farther each hour. If the seed rows are not reset soon, the planting day will be lost and the fields will be left uneven for the rest of the season.

The Busy Flower Path
The usual path to the barn is blocked by a stubborn patch of sweet-smelling wildflowers that has grown thick overnight and is drawing bees into the middle of the walkway. The path must be cleared or rerouted before the milk pail, wagon wheels, and small hooves all try to pass through the same busy spot.

Hay on the Hill
A cart full of hay has rolled half off the shed ramp and now leans dangerously toward the feed bins, where the animals' supper is stored. The hay cannot simply be left there, because one wrong nudge could scatter the load, trap the bins, and leave the whole farm waiting for dinner.

Water Rising in the Yard
The rain barrel overflows just as the farm animals need their evening drink, but the barrel is filling from the wrong place: clear water is bubbling up through the packed earth beside the pump. There is only one safe chance to redirect it before the yard turns to mud and the thirsty animals start crowding each other.

Mina and the Shiny Plank
A board by the ditch keeps turning shiny and wet, and Mina wants to know why. But with Pip eager to help and Bran waiting for water, she has to choose what to do first.
